General Information About Marching Band

*Students should meet at the Middle School for all home football games unless told otherwise.  Parents who do not attend the home games should pick up their students behind the press box located on Pritchett Road.  We do not have access to a phone.  You should make prior arrangements.  Students who drive must park behind the Middle School for home games.  Remember - the speed limit is 5 mph!

*Students will take turns coming back to the high school after home games to help unload the truck.  We will schedule sectional help as the season progresses.  If it is your night to help unload the equipment, you will be required to ride the bus back to the high school.

*Students should meet at the High School for all performances that require travel by bus.  Students must ride the bus to and from these events.  Prior approval must be made for any exceptions.

*All students are required to help unload the truck after away performances.  Before you leave, carry something in!

*The marching schedule tells you what time to be there for home games, and what time the bus pulls out for away performances.

*Make sure to bring your pep music to all the football games.  There will be a box set out to take pep music down to the stadium for all home games.  Pay attention to when and where this will be, as it changes.  The music will be handed out after the pre-game performance.

*Students who play smaller instruments should leave their cases in their cars, or not bring them at all.  Students that play the larger instruments will unload them from the truck, get them out, then load the cases back on the truck before we march to the stadium.  You must also load it on the truck after the game.  This means actually handing it to the person loading the truck.  You cannot just leave it sitting on the ground near the truck!  You are responsible for making sure your case is loaded every time.

*Do not bring hat boxes in the Middle School.  Leave them in the car or at home for home games.  Do not leave anything in the middle school; we cannot get back in due to the alarm system.  Hats must be kept in boxes for away performances.

*Come dressed for all football game performances.  This means pants, jacket, hat, gloves, shoes, white socks, and band shirt.  The band shirt has to be worn underneath the uniform by all players.  No exceptions! Flag girls do not have to follow this rule since a dark shirt would show through the white shirt.  Make sure that you have all uniform parts before you come to the performances, especially home games.  There are no extra uniform parts kept at the stadium.

*You are required to stay in full uniform (with the exception of hats and gloves).  You are usually allowed to unzip your jacket, but you must leave it on.

*Plumes will be handed out before the beginning of each performance, make sure you get one then, because they get loaded back on the truck.  Be very careful with the plumes, make sure they are taken out and put back in the cases correctly.  They are very expensive to replace if they get damaged.

*Band members are required to sit by sections at the football games.  People from outside the band are not allowed to sit with the band.  There is not even enough room for the band, much less extra people.

*Band members are usually given part of the 3rd quarter off.  Make sure you are back on time.

*It is the responsibility of the student to obtain prior approval from the director for all anticipated absences.  Please do not request to leave football games early.  We often play for a short time following the game.

*Students are required to honor the requests of chaperones and bus drivers.

*General misconduct as exemplified by profane language, songs or gestures is strictly forbidden.  We need to project a positive image about both our band and school.
